HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year!

I’m so sad that all the festivities are over and that my husband will soon be back at work and regular life will resume.

We’re still out of town, visiting my in-laws, so I haven’t taken our Christmas decorations down yet and to be honest I’m dreading it!

But with a new year comes the feeling of a fresh start. I’m not setting any resolutions because I can’t stick at them (I couldn’t even stick at Blogmas LOL!) but I am ready to get back to the gym after weeks off, clean eating and trying to live a healthier lifestyle in 2018.

I’m also working on having a more positive attitude. This year will be rough since my husband has to go to Korea for most of the year and I think the only way I’ll cope is with a positive thinking.

Also, I’m really going to try and make 2018 the year where I find out what it is I’m going to do. I’ll be 25 in the summer, I feel like I should have some idea of what I want to do for a career by now. I like everything from writing/blogging to crafting to doing hair and make up. I’ve never truly felt like I know what it is I’m supposed to do with my life but I’m determined to explore all my options in 2018.

Most of all I hope 2018 is a happy healthy year for my loved ones. I hope it’s a year where my blog will see some growth and I hope it’s a year that I can dedicate to self-growth.

Blogmas Day 3: The Mama’s Christmas Wish List

I love being a mum. It’s the best thing in the world and seeing Christmas through the eyes of your little one makes it all feel so magical again. But motherhood is hard! and sometimes we just need a little break here and there, so here’s my Mama’s Christmas Wishlist…

  1. A long, candlelit bubble bath without the dog, cat and baby all trying to jump in with me.
  2. A warm cup of tea or coffee.
  3. A day without listening to ‘Baby Shark’.
  4. A drawing by Caleb that is on paper and not on my walls.
  5. To take Caleb with me to the gym and have him play nicely for an hour while I work out.
  6. Dinner cooked for me. Dishes washed and laundry done.
  7. A foot rub. And back rub.

8. For Caleb to snuggle with me for a whole film.

9. A mani/pedi.

10. Cheesy ending, but for my family to have a safe and happy Christmas and 2018.

I know that I’m so beyond lucky to be able to be a mother. I’d give up all these things if it mean number 10 could be granted. But I really would love a warm cuppa too!

Blogmas Day 2: Guest Post

I made it to Day 2! Today I have collabed with a guest blogger, the lovely Caitlin from CaitlinCx doing a post about how she maintains her hair, skin and nails in the winter months.

Without further ado, I’ll pass over to Caitlin:

How to look after your skin, hair & nails during winter… Well how I do anyway 💁🏽 There are a few things that I do that help keep mine looking & feeling pretty good! So here are the main ones…

Vitamins; I honestly believe if you aren’t taking any vitamins then you should be. Yes we get vitamins from foods etc & sunlight, but it’s winter now & we need to up the vitamins in the cold weather. I take a standard multivitamin, you could take hair, skin & nail ones too. But I also take collagen tablets or drink a collagen drink. Since using these I haven’t had ANY dry skin. We all get spot breakouts, especially around the time of our periods, so girls I’m not saying you won’t ever get spots. But your skin will feel amazingly hydrated & look brighter!

Skincare routine;

This is super duper important! It’s important all year round so really you should be doing this daily anywho… But this is how I look after my skin from the outside.

Firstly you need to double cleanse, so not once, but twice so you definitely get rid of all makeup or any other products that you have use. I switch mine up so I don’t cleanse with the same product either. Then you need to use a toner. Lastly depending on whether this is your morning or evening routine you need a lovely moisturiser for the day time & night cream in the evening. I swear by night creams, absolutely love them.

For your body, don’t forget, you also need to be giving it some attention, so we know that our hands & feet could do with some tlc too throughout the colder months! Slap on a body lotion, or hand cream & let it do the work.

Hair treatments;

I love to have my hair looking super healthy all year round. In the winter it can get a little dry due to the weather. I find using an oil on the ends of my hair all year keeps it silky & managable. I swear by using hair products before your hair dries rather than after. Sometimes if you use it after it goes a bit thick & makes it look greasy.. Nobody wants that.

Blogmas Day 1: Decorations

What a surprise, I’m late to the game as usual! December has already been chock-a-block for me and has no signs of slowing down. So I’m going to try my best to keep up with Blogmas… but we’ll see how that goes!

For my first day of Blogmas, I thought I’d tell you about all the decorations I’ve added this year.

Having a toddler and animals made me pretty nervous to decorate (my worries were confirmed when Caleb used my baubles to play a game of fetch with Lucy the Labrador) but I’m way to excited for Christmas to let those worries stop me. I was one of those people who had my tree up before the Thanksgiving turkey had even been bought. I was too excited this year. It’s Caleb’s second Christmas and he knows something exciting is happening, so I’ve gone a little bit mad with the decorations.

For my tree, I used all my old decorations. Some I got in England and some I got in Georgia. I also added Caleb’s little decorations- for someone who’s had one Christmas, he has a lot of decorations, including one that my brother bought him from Harrods. My one year old has fancier decorations than I do! He has some on his little bedroom tree, which by the way is the cutest thing ever, and some on the main tree.

For stockings, I really wanted to get ones with our initials on. I’d seen these in Target and loved them but at $13 a piece it would have cost me almost $40 to buy all three. Instead, I found these gorgeous, velvet ones in Walmart for $8 each – almost half the price of the Target ones!

I also went to Walmart to buy a garland and ribbon for my staircase and wrapped them around the bannister. It was actually a lot more difficult than I had planned but I think the end result is so pretty. I had bought some little battery powered lights too, but I felt like the ribbon was enough. All together this cost about $6. Bargain!

I got this beautiful snow globe from Target for $12. It’s Caleb’s decoration for this year, I originally wanted to get him another bauble but he’s been mesmerised by this snow globe since he first ever saw it; he’s sat for hours watching and listening to it. I love it because you can wind it up and it plays a lullaby. It’s so adorable.

Finally (and probably my most favourite decorations), we have my Nutcrackers and my Candy Canes. These all came from the Dollar Tree, for you mathematicians they cost a grand total of $4!

I’ve always wanted a collection of Nutcrackers, ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved them. My friend bought me the Red one (which is my absolute fave because, I’m sure some of you know, red is my favourite colour) and I went back later and bought the blue one. Caleb already snapped his hand off but it was nothing a bit of super glue couldn’t fix.

I just love the Candy Canes because they’re cute. In an ideal world, I’d have them leading up my path but since we’re moving soon, I don’t want to go and buy a load (even if they’re only a dollar each) and then not be able to use them in future.

Fun Sunday Activites

I love Sunday. I do less housework, we rarely have plans and all the family is home together. 

Today, we have dinner in the slow cooker, a mostly clean house and nowhere to go. So here’s a little post dedicated to all the fun things you can do with your little ones on a nice, Autumn Sunday:

  • Watch movies and eat lots of snacks. Personal recommendations are: Lion King, Shrek, Madagascar and Ice Age. 
  • Go to the park 
  • Go for a walk. This is especially lovely if it’s nice and cold and you can get wrapped up in scarves and Wellington boots. 
  • Do some drawing, painting or crafting. With Christmas coming, it’s nice to start making gifts for family members. 
  • Do some baking. Nothing smells nicer than an oven full of treats on a Sunday afternoon. 
  • Do some organising. Clear out and donate toys and clothes ready for when Santa brings new ones. 
  • Invite friends over for a nice, roast dinner. 
  • Write your Christmas lists and letters to Santa. Only 7 weeks to go! 
  • Build a fort. 
  • Go on an adventure to the woods, lake or somewhere else. Take pictures, collect sticks and pine cones.

The Art of Making Mum Friends

What’s the one thing any mama wants more than sleep? Friends! 

Any mum, working or stay at home, knows that the key to staying sane is having good friends. People who you can talk to about anything – baby poop, make up, grocery shopping etc. Someone who you can talk to that’s not a Toddler. Someone who you can tell ‘I screamed at my son last night’ and they’ll be like ‘me too, don’t worry’. 

Being a military wife, one of the things I dread most – aside from deployments – is leaving my friends. It’s taken a while to weed out the good, true friends from the crazy ones and when we move I’ll have to go through the process again. 

Making mum friends is like dating. But more intense. You don’t want to come off as desperate (even though you are), you don’t know when to take it from bumping in to each other at the park to actually exchanging phone numbers, then when you get her number you have to come up with the perfect, aloof text and pray she replies. It’s hard work. 

Not to mention that, just like dating, you have to weed out the crazy ones from the good ones. I’ve encountered my number of both.  Sometimes you host a play date at your house and end up thinking ‘your baby is cute but for the love of God get out of my house!’.
Once you get good friends, it’s wonderful. You can go on regular play dates, go for lunch (even though the mess that two toddlers make in a restaurant is unlike any you’ve seen before) and have someone to go to playgroups and the park with so you can actually chat. 


The best kinds are the ones who don’t judge you, and you can tell each other how crazy motherhood makes you without feeling like they’re gonna run home and call CPS. You actually have someone who understands you, comforts you and reassures you that you’re doing okay. 



I see a lot of mums online talk about how lonely they are and how stressful the process of mum-friend-‘dating’ is. The key thing is to put yourself out there. Join up to a baby-friendly gym class, go to baby/toddler groups, go to the park, be where the mums are! Most importantly, be open, confident and friendly. It won’t always go to plan, she might not call you, she might be crazy but when you find those few good friends, it’s so worth it!
